Appian Way: from the Cecilia Metella Mausoleum to Castel Gandolfo

An easy and fairly flat 17 km (10 miles) relaxed walk on the original 2000 years old stones of the most famous ancient Roman way Via Appia. The walk will end in Castel Gandofo, the Pope´s summer residence on the Albano Lake
ITINERARY:
This is one of Rome´s most incredible places, an original way built over 2000 years ago that was used to connect lRome´s with southern Italy´s port of Brindisi and then to the Middle East. The Appian Way is flanked by pieces of the ancient Rome: mausoleums ruins, statues, religious monuments and lovely meadows. The feeling is almost unreal thanks to the calm and quiet atmosphere that bring people back in time awakening the many images of the Ancient Roman time.
After a little climb up to the picturesque and historical town of Castel Gandolfo we will be able to enjoy the stunning view over the Lake Albano. Here in town we will have some tie for a drink and a taste of local food.
